they say that a journey of a thousand steps begins with a single one. This journey will end one day, but hopefully before it does, I'll have clicked off my bucket all the things I want to do. Want to come along for the ride?

Day 1: the list

  • Run a 5K
  • Have a gallery display for my photos
  • See the Niagra Falls from the Canadian side in person
  • Graduate with a new degree from college
  • Leave this place better than when I got here
  • Get Baptized
  • Solve a cold case mystery

This list is going to grow with time I’m sure. Some of the things in life I’ve already achieved before making this blog. Coming up on a fair amount of years in life and things make you realize a lot about what you might leave once you’re not here anymore. My friend died 5 years ago today at 26. It wasn’t from covid like so many during that time in the world. He left a legacy that can still be felt even by those that didn’t get the chance to know him in person. I’ve spent the last 5 years trying to live the best I could by helping people that needed it to the best of my ability. But it feels like in this quest I’ve let him down, there’s more that can be done not only in my own life, but in the helping of others, like he did. So I’m going to keep track of things in life as long as I can on this platform as I take on a list of things to do in my life to feel like something has been achieved. Some of these things are way out there for me, like run a 5k or solve a mystery. Some are fairly easy to achieve like seeing Niagra Falls or finishing another degree. We shall see what’s to come of this journey.

5K Journey

If you know me, you know that the best things in this life have come out of the hardest parts of it. So why not try to do the next to impossible thing first in this blog. Some might say that I have no business in doing this at all but you know what, frack that! Yes a 5k is usually run, but mine might just look like walking. In high school, many, many, years ago I ran cross country for about a year until my knee was injured in unrelated teenager stupidity. I’ve biked from the Eastern part of Maine to Bar Harbor with a summer camp one summer and I used to spend a fair amount of time active until a few years ago. So I signed up for the most grueling way I could do a 5k, the Spartan race.
